A powerful midfielder who is excellent defensively and can get forward and score goals, Franck Kessie was born in Ivory Coast on December 19, 1996. He set out on his football career at Stella Club d'Adjamé in his home country.

2015 saw the midfielder transferred from the Ivory Coast club to Italian club, Atalanta. After spending the first season in the youth teams at the Bergamo based club, Kessie went on loan to Serie B side Cesena, where he became a mainstay of the Emilia-Romagna club, who reached the play-offs for promotion to the Italian Serie A but fell short.

His good season in the second division convinced Atalanta coach, Gian Piero Gasperini, to trust him with a midfield role in the first team for the side from northern Italy.

After a good season with Atalanta, AC Milan reached an agreement with the Bergamo based club to loan the African midfielder for two years with an obligation to buy at the end. At the San Siro, Kessie would become one of the best midfielders in Italy and a key cog in the rossoneri engine room for five seasons.

Kessie ended up playing 223 games for AC Milan over five seasons, scoring an impressive 37 goals (he became the regular penalty taker) and creating 17 assists.

His final season for AC Milan in 2021/22 saw him become one of their main men as they won their first Serie A title in eleven years to be crowned Italian champions.

Frank Kessie debuted for Ivory Coast aged only 17 years old in September 2014, when his national side beat Sierra Leone in a qualifying match for the 2015 African Cup of Nations.

Kessie would again prove a key man in midfield for the Ivory Coast during the 2017 and 2019 African Cup of Nations, providing the highest number of assists in the latter.
