The ‘Cant del Barça’ song was composed in 1974 and is now the Club’s anthem. It was written for the Club’s 75th anniversary by the writers Josep M. Espinàs and Jaume Picas, with music by Manuel Valls, and is still completely relevant. It is a strong, rhythmic anthem that sings of assertiveness (tenim un nom, el sap tothom / we have a name everyone knows) and above all integration (som la gent blaugrana, tant se val d’on venim / we’re the blue and garnet supporters, no matter where we come from; una bandera ens agermana / one flag unites us as brothers) and perseverance (s’ha demostrat que mai ningú no ens podrà tòrcer / and we have shown that no one can ever break us).
